Job Description

Dance Instructor is
responsible for teaching various dance styles to students of all levels, creating engaging lesson plans, choreographing routines for performances, evaluating student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment, while maintaining a strong understanding of proper technique and safety protocols;

 
requiring excellent communication skills, a passion for dance, and the ability to motivate students to achieve their dance goals

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching Dance Classes:
    Lead scheduled dance classes across different styles (e.g., ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary) for various age groups, adapting instruction to individual student needs. 
  • Curriculum Development:
    Create detailed lesson plans, incorporating appropriate warm-ups, technical exercises, choreography, and cool-downs for each class. 
  • Choreography:
    Develop and implement original choreography for performances, recitals, and special events. 
  • Student Evaluation:
    Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and assess technical skills throughout the learning process. 
  • Performance Preparation:
    Guide students through the rehearsal process, including costume selection, stage presence, and performance readiness. 
  • Communication:
    Maintain open communication with students, parents, and studio management regarding class schedules, progress updates, and any concerns. 
  • Studio Maintenance:
    Ensure the cleanliness and proper use of dance studio equipment and facilities. 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Dance Expertise: Advanced proficiency in multiple dance styles with a strong foundation in technique. 
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience teaching dance classes to diverse age groups and skill levels. 
  • Choreographic Ability: Demonstrated creativity in developing original choreography. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively instruct and motivate students. 
  • Leadership Qualities: Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment. 
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to demonstrate dance movements with proper alignment and flexibility. 
Optional Qualifications:
  • Dance certification or degree from a recognized institution 
  • Experience in competitive dance or performance choreography 
  • Knowledge of music theory and selection 
  • Ability to adapt to changing trends in the dance industry
