Job Description: Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Information Systems Specialist (Information Systems Specialist 3) This recruitment is for one (1), limited duration, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies. Position Schedule is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (depending on lunch time taken). The position hours are based on department needs. Limited duration positions are benefit eligible positions with a designated maximum length of service. This position is expected to last through June of 2025 (end of biennium); however, based on workload need and funding the position end cannot be anticipated or may become permanent depending on funding. Please note: We anticipate a renewal after the June 2025 date, through June 2027. However, based on workload need and funding the position end date cannot be anticipated. What you will be doing: The primary purpose of this position is to provide front line IT-related services and delivery through the IS Help Desk, troubleshooting staff needs in person, on the phone, or remotely, and through regular support and maintenance of the agency’s network infrastructure. This position will troubleshoot staff desktop, Agency Audio Visual, and apparent network problems; perform routine maintenance tasks; monitor system performance; and maintain system documentation. This position keeps the agency’s Desktop and IS infrastructure up and running. It also prevents outages on the users who carry out our agency’s critical mission functions. About DPSST: The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators. Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of information systems experience in: Software: Software means the programs, procedures, rules, and associated documentation concerned with operating a system and covers both application and operating software. Hardware: Hardware Device means the physical components (ex: PC, server, mainframe, peripherals) OR An associate degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. OR Completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field. A working knowledge to support IOS devices including iPhones and iPads. Ability to support users in person and those working remotely around the state of Oregon. Ability to adapt with ease under shifting priorities. Experience working in a team environment. Ability to maintain documentation of problems and processes. Respond to customer support requests via phone, in person, and via service ticketing system.
