Attention all current and aspiring Librarians! Are you looking to play a pivotal role in reintegrating people into society by providing instruction and imaginative escape through literacy? We have an amazing opportunity with full time permanent hours, a fast-vesting pension plan, up to 14 paid days off per year, and comprehensive benefits.

The Librarian will operate smaller or less complicated libraries and/or legal content access points within the institution. The Librarian will perform difficult professional work in connection with selecting, cataloging, loaning, or the reference use of books and other library materials and media formats. The Librarian will maintain order and supervise incarcerated persons who are accessing the recreation library, and/or legal content contained in either the print collection or the Law Library Electronic Delivery System (LLEDS).

Working Conditions

This position is located at the California State Prison in Corcoran CA, which is accessibly located right off Highway 43. Conveniently located one hour from Lemoore Naval Air Station and Sequoias National Park. Two hours from Yosemite National Park and Pismo Beach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong writing skills for creating reports, guides, and promotional materials.
• Excellent project management abilities to oversee various library initiatives.
• Proficient organizational skills to maintain an efficient library environment.
• Experience with data collection methods to assess library services effectively.
• Familiarity with databases and integrated library systems is essential.
• Knowledge of intellectual property law as it pertains to library resources is a plus.
• A passion for education and a commitment to serving the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with inquiries and library services.
• Manage and organize library collections, ensuring accurate cataloging and data management.
• Utilize integrated library systems for efficient operation and resource management.
• Conduct research and data collection to support library programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate on project management tasks, including budgeting and grant writing for library projects.
• Educate patrons on library resources and services through workshops and informational sessions.

Pay: $4,113.00 - $7,573.00 per month
