What you'll do

-Ensures compliance with all federal laws and regulations, the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act of 1996, and corporate goals/objectives
-Oversees and coordinates all aspects of the Company’s family assistance response (CARE Team)
-Develops, manages, and improves upon the American Airlines Incident Response Plan and Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan
-Manages cross-departmental team and acts as liaison between departments to ensure emergency response preparedness and compliance
-Directs the research, review, and evaluation of external source materials regarding airline emergency operations/assistance programs
-Ensures emergency operations and assistance programs are integrated with oneworld, Regional, and code share companies' programs and procedures
-Directs the development and operation of the emergency response team
-Evaluates the effectiveness of training to ensure employees company-wide are receiving appropriate training to maintain readiness
-Ensures emergency preparedness of every department, including airports and directs evaluation of emergency preparedness plans 
-Updates and coordinates with Legal to file the Company’s emergency response plan with the Department of Transportation and National Transportation Safety Board 
-Manages the Go Team credit card program and all assets of the Emergency Plan
-Develops and updates the Company’s Emergency Response Manual
-Develops, implements, and coordinates the Company’s Incident Response Plan
-Acts as liaison with external organizations such as the NTSB and FAA and industry groups on family assistance matters
-Develops and schedules company-wide emergency response drills, manifest reconciliation drills, and other ancillary drills periodically to test the readiness and dependability of the Emergency Response Plan
-Develops and manages the department budget

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

-Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/training
-At least 5 years project management experience, with demonstrated ability to develop and manage cross-functional teams to accomplish project objectives
-At least 5 years-experience in a managerial position with demonstrated leadership abilities

 

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

-Previous experience in airline or other industry emergency response 

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

-Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical documents such as operating instructions, technical and procedure manuals
-Excellent facilitation and formal presentation skills
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees throughout the organization (from front-line employees to senior management)
-Ability to analyze data 
-Ability to multi-task and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
-Ability to lead and manage during a crisis event
