Job Description

Materials Specialist Location West Point, GA : Position Summary:

Material Inventory Specialist monitors inventory, mainly from U.S. port to HTGP plant, and replenishes on site inventory from ports (Container Call) and warehouse locations as needed to insure availability of components to meet production plan. This position is also responsible for preparing and distributing daily assembly production plan to insure availability of finished goods. This position is responsible for inventory control, timely arrivals of containers including logistics. This position also works to insure compliance with USMCA requirements.

Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):

Technical:

  • Determine incorrect ASN info & Invoice, BL document with HPT.
  • Explain package problem & package improvement request to HPT.
  • Assists with cycle counts and physical inventories as directed to ensure best possible inventory accuracy.
  • Compare the actual inventory counts with the SAP system in daily to weekly basis to minimize inventor inaccuracy and figure out any errors that could emerge during breakdowns, feeding and storing.
  • Forwards purchase costing information to Accounting and works to resolve payment issues.
  • Coordinates MRB product and OS&D area to process scrap and defective components per procedures.
  • Supports CTPAT compliance at HTGP and with subcontractors
  • Take responsibilities in sending parts back to the supplier and maintaining data for receiving credits and calculating error frequency.
  • Assists with departmental continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency of Materials area. Projects include gathering and analysis of data and formulating reports and presentations to superiors
  • Displays knowledge and skills necessary to perform assigned duties.
  • Builds and sustains positive relationships and handles conflict effectively.
  • Always maintains a pro-team member environment.

Leadership:

  • Understands and enforces a 5S philosophy to maintain a clean working environment
  • Communicates to group leader, team leaders, team members and management as required to meet department goals.
  • Ability to work with Assembly, Machining, PC and Materials departments on a daily basis to meet company goals.
  • Strong communication and people skills to work with all levels of Material departments in a team building manner.
  • Ability to multi-task at all times making quick, sound decisions on a day-to-days basis in a calm, confident manner.
  • Meets all other requirements as assigned.

Education

  • High School/GED
  • 4 Year Degree or comparable background of work related experience in facilitation and/or instructional systems design
