Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team and contribute to providing exceptional patient care. This role is crucial in supporting our orthodontic team across 5+ practices in Brooklyn and Queens. We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated professional with strong orthodontic assisting skills and the ability to work collaboratively with dental professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Hourly rates start at $18 per hour. Candidates with meaningful experience can earn higher compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as braces placement, adjustments, and removal.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and organizing orthodontic appliances.
• Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) and digital impressions using advanced imaging technology.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions for successful outcomes.
• Support orthodontic procedures including archwire changes, retainer fittings, and aligner adjustments.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including charting treatment progress and appliance usage.
• Ensure proper care, sterilization, and maintenance of orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Collaborate with the orthodontist and treatment coordinator to manage scheduling and patient follow-up.
• Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
• Stay updated with advancements in orthodontic techniques and technology through continuing education.

Qualifications:

• X-ray certification and CPR certification required.
• Proven experience assisting in an orthodontic practice preferred.
• Proficiency in orthodontic procedures, including working with braces, clear aligners, retainers, and space maintainers.
• Familiarity with digital imaging systems (e.g., CBCT, 3D imaging, intraoral scanners).
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining confidentiality.
