Parks Maintenance Job Description

The City of Fort Pierre is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Parks Maintenance team. As a Parks Maintenance worker, you will be responsible for the upkeep and beautification of our city's parks and recreational areas. This hands-on role involves a variety of tasks to ensure that our parks are clean, safe, and enjoyable for all residents and visitors.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining and repairing park facilities, such as playground equipment, picnic shelters, and restrooms
• Mowing and landscaping park grounds
• Planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, and flowers
• Performing routine maintenance on park amenities, such as benches, tables, and fences
• Responding to maintenance requests and addressing any issues in a timely manner
• Assisting with special events and projects in the parks department
• Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines

Requirements:

• Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field
• Ability to operate landscaping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers
• Knowledge of horticulture and plant care with preference for applicator licensing
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift objects up to 75lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• SD Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 180 days
