DESCRIPTION

The Ring Product Design team is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join a new-to-world robotics program. As a senior technical contributor, you will drive critical decisions in system architecture and electrical design, balancing technology decisions with the practical needs of reliability, safety, and usability. Your expertise will be crucial in developing sophisticated yet user-friendly products that enhance home security / automation, and a feeling of presence for our customers.

This role offers the opportunity to work on novel robotic consumer electronic device, combining elements of autonomous systems, power management, and sensor integration. You'll collaborate with talented teams across engineering disciplines, influencing product direction and mentoring fellow engineers.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in electrical engineering, particularly in robotics, along with a proven track record of bringing complex products from concept to market. Your work will significantly contribute to Ring's mission of “Keeping people close to what’s important."

Key job responsibilities
1. Lead the electrical system design and architecture for a novel Ring robotics program, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability.
2. Review and validate complex system architectures, schematics, and technical documentation.
3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, systems engineering & testing teams to successfully integrate & validate the electrical systems.
4. Drive innovation in power management, motor control, sensor integration, and wireless communication for compact robotic designs.
5. Oversee the development and implementation of electrical safety features and fail-safe mechanisms in collaboration with safety and compliance teams.
6. Conduct and lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to ensure product quality and reliability.
7. Participate in rapid prototyping and testing of electrical systems.
8. Perform & present tradeoff analysis
9. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
- Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent
- Strong background in power electronics and battery management systems (BMS) for robotics applications.
- Hands-on experience with sensor integration (IMUs, cameras, proximity sensors) and signal processing.
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols (WiFi, Bluetooth, RF) and implementation experience.
- Track record of successful collaboration with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Proven ability to review and validate complex system architectures and technical documentation.
- Commitment to rigorous testing practices and design process flows.
- Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
