THE POSITION: We are looking for a Tower Technician II. The pay range we offer is $45,000 to $65,000 per year. We offer a generous compensation plan based on industry standards and your experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Tower Technician II, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers and related equipment. The Telecom Tower Technician II will work independently or as part of a team to ensure that all towers function properly and safely. This position requires high-level technical knowledge and experience in the telecommunications industry.
May perform installs on radios, antennas, and associated RF equipment
Trouble shoots Alarms / RSSI issues at sites using supplied sweep gear.
Perform electrical down tilts and mechanical down tilts to various antennas using supplied antenna controller units.
Run jumpers as needed to complete ongoing scopes of work.
May devise jumper connections with knowledge from connector training.
Complete required equipment and supply paperwork.
Climbing communications structures, to include guyed; self-supporting; monopoles; building/rooftops; grain silos.
Performing audits: safety; defect and quality.
Ability to follow daily instructions.
Ability to run jumpers as needed to complete ongoing scopes of work.
Fill out the required paperwork and printouts.
Applies job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications towers and related equipment.
Inspect towers for safety issues such as corrosion or structural damage.
Perform routine maintenance on towers, including cleaning, lubrication, and tightening bolts.
Troubleshoot tower systems to identify problems and determine solutions.
Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to understand system operations.
Test tower systems to ensure proper operation.
Document all work performed on towers by following company policies and procedures.
Follow safety protocols when working on or near towers.
Maintain a clean work environment at all times.
Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Ability to track daily duties and time.


Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Six months+ of experience in the telecommunications industry required (experience with tower installation/maintenance preferred).
Knowledge of tower systems, including antennas, radios, and amplifiers.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
Ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Valid state-issued driver's license is required.
Must be a Certified Tower Climber via Gravitec Systems, Inc. or ComTrain.


Recommended Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Competent climber.
Competent rigger.
Knowledge of standard knots.
Trained in controlled descent.
Trained in the use of aerial lifts.
Trained in procedures on a working platform.
Trained in procedures on a cable bridge/ice bridge.
Familiarity with UMTS and 4G.
Requires working knowledge of Microwave equipment.
Use hand tools to mount equipment, run and connect cables, and secure climbers.
Knowledge of basic electricity, grounding, and power safety.
Experience completing full grounding installations, tower demolition, tower stripping, and painting (erect and horizontal).
Ability to Install fiber and coaxial cable on towers, rooftops - any structure.
General understanding of how-to fiber test - Fiber Scope and Power Test.
Troubleshoot and fix connectors and Antenna system.
Ability to work closely with others.
Team Player.
Travel as required, typically within a designated region.
Must safely climb while carrying tools and equipment of up to 60 pounds and work on a cell site tower using safety gear rated for a maximum working load of 310 lbs., including the climber, tools, and equipment.
Familiarity with using PIM gear and PIM troubleshooting.
TMO experience preferred.
Past Verizon experience or RTWP experience a plus.


Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Work authorization (required).
Ability to pass a pre-employment screen (drug, background, and driving).
Obtain and ability to maintain industry certifications including but not limited to RF Safety Certificate, OSHA 10 / OSHA 30, NWSA, and CPR / First Aid.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Rescue certification is preferred.
Anritsu and/or OSHA certification a plus.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.


Physical Demands:
Must be able to climb and descend all tower and rooftop structures.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to travel as needed.
