Description Job Description: We are seeking an experienced part-time Class A CDL driver to join our fleet department. The driver will be responsible for the pickup and delivery of tractors and trailers to and from repair facilities, dealers, depots, and occasionally terminals. Additionally, the driver will assist fleet mechanics and drivers with diagnostic and quality control road tests as needed. This is a first shift/daytime position, Monday through Friday, with optional weekend work available. All trips are local and within a 150-mile radius.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities - Transport tractor and trailer units to and from vendors and repair locations.
- Perform road tests on tractors and trailers to provide diagnostic and quality control feedback.
- Move trailers within our trailer repair facility to assist shop mechanics.
- Support fleet and transport dispatch in the movement of all tractor-trailers.
- Coordinate with the fleet to build and maintain a working schedule, with on-call availability being a plus.
Requirements Qualifications: - Valid Class A CDL License.
- Ability to obtain a DOT Medical card.
- Familiarity with DOT rules and regulations.
- Experience in hauling and moving trailers.
- Hazmat and tanker endorsements, along with a TWIC card, are preferred but not required. We can assist the right candidate in obtaining these certifications.
- Experience with petroleum tanker trailers is helpful but not required.

Regular communication with fleet managers, dispatchers, and mechanics is essential to ensure smooth operations and address any issues during transport. The job can be physically demanding, involving tasks such as loading and unloading cargo, performing vehicle inspections, and handling heavy equipment. The ability to push or pull up to 100 pounds; bend; lift up to 50 pounds; kneel, squat, climb, stand, walk, sit, reach, drive, perform repetitive motions, and exercise fine motor skills. Hearing and vision must meet standards for Commercial Driver’s licensing. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Drivers may work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, with part-time positions offering more flexibility. Adherence to safety regulations is crucial, including following DOT rules, maintaining a clean driving record, and ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition through regular inspections and maintenance. The job can be stressful due to tight schedules, traffic conditions, and the responsibility of transporting valuable cargo, making fatigue management important for safe driving practices. Drivers are involved in local deliveries within a specific radius (e.g., 150 miles).
